How can I use photography and color to challenge society’s unrealistic beauty standards and reframe insecurities as symbols of confidence and individuality? I explored how common “imperfections”—like acne, stretch marks, or signs of aging—can be celebrated rather than hidden and criticized. My investigation focused on revealing the raw, unfiltered beauty that social media and modern culture have rejected, rather than embraced.

I experimented with materials like glitter, pimple patches, and makeup to reframe insecurities through the use of color. I practiced with studio lighting and blended backgrounds to highlight both texture and tone. My revision process included re-editing images, such as the plastic surgery shoot, to better convey my concept of the blurred line in societal beauty standards. Through trial and error, I discovered the most effective ways to visually celebrate what is often perceived as imperfect.
