In what way can photography translate a childhood experience? This question led me to explore my own memories and experiences, using them as direct inspiration for each photograph. I created a series of images rooted in specific moments from my childhood, using personal details, environments, and emotions to recreate memories through photography. By doing this, each photo becomes both a reflection of my past and a way to understand how those experiences continue to influence me.
Throughout this process, I focused on translating memory into imagery. I carefully considered composition, perspective, and often recreating scenes or incorporating details that held personal significance. I used color intentionally to evoke nostalgia, emphasizing warm tones and soft hues to mirror the way memories can feel, especially through the butterfly photo. Through editing, I maintained a consistent visual style that enhances this sense of nostalgia and emotional connection. These choices allowed me to not only document childhood, but to reinterpret it. Showing how personal memories can be transformed into something universal, while still remaining deeply individual.
