Legalistic Stuff

  1. Pass the Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST)

  2. Register at FAADroneZone, mark the registration number on the drone

  3. Check AutoPylot App for any restriction/warning/potential hazards

  4. Check the 2024-2025 Blair Academy Student Handbook

Time/Location Choice

1. Before dark!!

  • Personally I prefer around sunset

  • The sky looks colorful

2. Chose a location that have checked for potential hazards

  • Trees

  • Nets

  • Wires

During Shooting

Take usage of the unique perspective

  • Find patterns

  • Find Leading lines

Wait for a subject/put a subject in frame

After shooting

Crooping

the drone has a wide angle camera, hence sometimes it sometime captures too much information that separates the viewer’s attention

Masking

The camera on my drone is not as good as an actual camera. Hence I uses masking to bring out more visual information in light/colors, making the photo more interesting.

Green: Bring out the variety color of sun set

Blue: Emphasis the leading lines

Red: Create depth in the photo, avoid big areas of pure black
