In order for this tutorial to be simple and successful, there are certain settings that you must adjust to i order to result in the best quality. In this case, You will need the following: A camera, tripod, neutral density filter, an optional telephoto lens, and the correct camera settings.

These are the settings your camera should have for the best result. Shutter Speed: 2-5 seconds. Aperture: F29 or highest possible. ISO: 100. 2 second timer.

Neutral Density Filter: For taking photos with long exposure. Helps to tone down the brightness of a long exposure image. Attachment to the lens of your camera.

Procedure

Setup your tripod in front of water that is in motion. IMPORTANT: we do not want to photograph still water for this tutorial to work efficiently. The image above is a perfect model image of what kind of water you should be photographing: Water in motion. Once your camera and tripod is setup in front of your water in motion, take the picture using the two second timer so shaking the camera while taking the image won’t affect your photo.
