  • Tripod

  • Camera

  • App (SkyView Lite for IOS is my recommendation) to show where star systems are (Not necessary but helpful)

Settings:

  • You want to be on manual so you can adjust all the camera settings

  • ISO: Around 1600, but can be adjusted dependent on your situation

  • Shutter Speed:  Between 20-30 seconds

  • Aperture:  The lowest that it can possibly be

  • Set a two second timer on the camera so that the camera is perfectly still when the photo is taken

Steps for taking the picture

  1. Put your camera to the proper settings

  2. Attach your camera to the tripod

  3. Bring it outside and set it up where you want (Use a stargazing app to give an idea of where to angle your lens)

  4. Take the picture

  5. Adjust your settings based on the picture you take

  • Weather has to be perfect. There can not be any clouds in the sky.

  • The pictures have to be taken late at night, when it is dark outside

  • Try to eliminate any outside lights, for instance if your at home shut the lights off in your house
