How to light paint to convey motion

By Muriel Gibson ‘20

Step 1: Use a BLACK background!

A black background will show the colors of the LED lights more vividly than a white background.

Using a white background does not show motion as well as the black background

Here is what happens if you use a white background instead of a black background! No LED lights were used in this photo, but the motion is not shown as well as it would have been shown on a black background.

Step 2: Tape the LED lights to the golf club.

We used black electrical tape in order to do this.

Step 4: Adjust your camera settings.

The longer the shutter is open the more motion you will be able to capture. Turn off all extra lights in the room in order to capture these pictures best.
