When you think of teenagers nowadays, we are often referred to as Screenagers, genZers, and overworked. All of those are accurate, to say the least. My sustained investigation was inspired by these presumptions. I chose to explore personal exposures of the toxicity of men, profuse use of social media, abuse of drugs, depression, and uncertainty of my own personal identity I have faced through my teen years. While these aren't newfound tribulations, competition and technological development have rapidly increased in recent years. I wanted others to relate to my work and know they are not alone.
In my portfolio, I experimented with using textual evidence, googly eyes, pomegranate lungs, and perspectives to expand my horizons and prove that photography is limitless. In image 10, I routed for using an inanimate object to present an organ rather than sticking to my original idea of photoshopping an image of lungs onto the subject because I wanted to challenge my perspective, eye, and ways of thinking. In image 12, I wanted to use physical texture in my image because I wanted to appeal to the viewer's touch sensation; my inspiration decided to stick googly eyes on the subject physically.
