Each play holds its own story. This is something I learned while taking over 10000 football photos. I have always loved football and sports photography, so I decided to combine these interests. During the course of this year, I learned no two photos will ever be the same; they each capture their own moment in time. The more photos I took, the more I learned where to be on the field depending on what is happening, like going to the back of the endzone or standing behind the opponent quarterback in case of an interception.
I went to 7 football games this fall. In each game, I got better at capturing powerful moments, such as a diving touchdown on the one-yard line. One of my favorite photos, the one of the running back holding the ball out towards me as he runs into the endzone, was taken during one of the last games I shot. I was able to revise by looking at past games and choosing photos that I might not have thought were as good the first time I looked at them. I experimented a lot with different positions on the field. I would shift where I was each game to see what worked best. Practicing, experimenting, and revising were all important factors in my ability to capture the energy that my question is searching for.
