Hi! My name is Clare and this is my AP Portfolio! I've enjoyed taking photos ever since I was little, and when I found out Blair had a photography program I knew I wanted to do it! As I started taking the classes and learning more and more to what photography is, I knew it's what I want to do. I enjoy taking photos because you can capture moments that may never happen again, and just to hold on to. Like moments with your friends and family to much much more. Photography is my favorite hobby and I can't wait to pursue it more in the future!
I graduated Blair in 2018 and I am so happy I chose to take AP Photography. This class gave me a chance to experiment with different perspectives and shutter speeds, and out of those experiments came my Concentration. I also was able to explore different styles of photography that I hadn't before. I never thought of myself a portrait photographer before this class, but by being required to complete different projects I was forced to take more portraits. Now I have some portraits in my Breadth and Concentration and I didn't think I would have any in my portfolio at all.
I'm Nami Hoffman and I will have graduated from Blair Academy in May 2018. This is my completed my AP Portfolio submitted spring of 2018.
My name is Jillian Rogers '19 and I am from Stillwater, New Jersey. Photographing my friends, family, and world around me has become a hobby of mine that I hold close to my heart. I love being to see the world literally and metaphorically through a new lens.
I have taken every photo class offered at Blair from Photo 1 & 2 my freshman year, Advanced Digital my sophomore year, AP Photography my junior year, and an independent study senior year. I have improved immensely since my freshman year, and it makes me happy to be able to share my perspective of the world through my lens. I love photography because it allows me to capture a mere moment; one in which things may never be the same ever again. Included below is my AP Photography Portfolio, which consists of some of my favorite work. Here is how I perceive life through my lens - enjoy :)

My name is Anh Nguyen and I'm from Vietnam. Ever since I was young, I've loved taking photos because I was always fascinated with the idea that you can capture a moment and keep it. My passion for photography only developed around 5 years ago when I got my first DSLR camera. Ever since my goal has been to capture as many moments as I can, furthermore, use photography as a means of showing people's stories.

Born and raised in New Orleans, I found my passion for photography my sophomore year at Blair. Since then, I've grown to appreciate the medium as a way to easily express moments and emotions. My portfolio mostly consists of documentary, street-style photography wherein I captures a moment or person, usually without their knowledge. Everything in this portfolio was shot on Kodak Portra 400 or Ilford HP5 35mm film. I had never used film before my senior year, but I've grown to appreciate it as a different medium than digital photography.
I lOVE PHOTO!
My central focus for my portfolio was to capture "uncontrived moments of people focused naturally". I wanted to take photos of people in their natural, comfortable setting doing their everyday tasks. These settings may not have been unique to the people in the photos, however, the settings to most people, especially people at Blair, are unique, cultured and different. Here I also challenged myself to take photos that are different in perspective. Whether it's the streets of Hong Kong, the Philippines, New York or the Dominican Republic, beauty can be found in the simple things - in everyday, "normal" tasks.
I completed AP Photography at Blair Academy during my senior year. I look forward to using my photography skills to capture the city of Los Angeles while studying French at USC.
My name is Hannah Ciancarelli and I’m from Andover, NJ, but love to travel and take pictures of landscapes and nature. In my time at Blair, I’ve taken every photo course that has been offered, from Photo 1 all the way up to AP and an independent study. Through my work in these classes, I have expanded the breadth and depth of my photographic repertoire. I grew from putting together a simple collection of nature photos in my freshman year to capturing a story of grief through the photos for my AP portfolio concentration. I’ll be continuing to pursue photography in addition to other academic subjects in the Humanities at Lafayette College next year.
